nice upgrade for an older MacBook Pro
I have the very first generation MacBook Pro. Back then I got it with the biggest drive (120GB) available. And it was always full. This drive together with an external enclosure and some info from the internet (ifixit has a very clear howto for replacing drives) I got now as much free space as I had before. The drive makes a gurgling noise every so often. I consider that not to be an annoyance.

Great Drive ... If you get one
I ordered two of these from Amazon (two separate orders, different dates). The first time I got the wrong drive and had to return and replace. When I finally got the drive I installed it into my HP dv9000z (got the caddy off another site) and it has been working great.
More recently, my HP's primary drive (a Seagate Momentus) failed. Probably due to a bad knock while doing a virus scan. So I decided to order up another one of these. Unfortunately I received an empty box... Amazon has refunded me the money, but I still want the drive. I'll probably wait a while again (I really don't like having only one drive in my laptop) before trying again, or going for the 320GB model.
The drive is quiet and fast for a 5400rpm 2.5 incher. It is more quiet than the seagate I had, and it runs cooler. A good buy...if you manage to get it.
Through both scenarios Amazon was quick to resolve the issue. I only hope they work through the problems so that when I order another Scorpio I get it the first time around. Maybe some sort of packing verification system would help...I'd pay for that kind of service.
The four stars is a product/delivery combo rating. Product alone, I would give it a five star.

A lot of space for the laptop
I replaced the original 100 GB hard drive of my Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop because I needed more space to store large scans of botanical specimens. I have had an external drive attached the the laptop but I'd liked to travel without carrying an additional external drive.
The installation of the Western Digital drive was very easy, using the standard documentation of the Dell laptop. The whole process took less than 3 minutes. Formating the drive takes quite a while, using NTFS for Windows XP I got a formated capacity of 232 GB out of the drive, not the 250 GB gross but still not bad. I was expecting an notable performance increase over the old Samsung 100 GB drive, but the difference was not that notable.
I'm using the drive now for about an month without having problems, it's quite but not as quiete as the Samsung hard drive. Overall a good choise but I'm looking forward to get 2.5'' drives with over 400 GB capacity, I'm still short with the 250 GB.
