First One Went Bad - Amazon Came Through!
We decided on the Toshiba 52" HL167 after many long months of techology research, price comparisons, and the overall ratings we had seen. Received our HDTV and it worked spectacularly - for 2 weeks. Two areas of dead pixels appeared on the panel and, totally stunned, I immediately notified Amazon. They promptly exchanged the Toshiba for another one and had it delivered within less than a week (5 stars to Amazon!). The dead pixel lines increased dramatically over the next few days to about 36 inches across the panel. I was quite surprised at this failure as I had not seen anyone experience any pixel problems with this Toshiba model.
We've had the replacement for about a month now, and so far, so good - but you can't help but feel a little cautious. The picture truly is stunning with HD broadcasts (we have DishHD), only wish there were more. Overall, Amazon's response to our situation was incredible, but keeping my fingers crossed with Toshiba.

My new TV
Our new TV is a little slow on changing channels, about a 5 second delay. But we could not be happyier with the over all performance, the picture is outstanding.

The price/performance is excellent
It took a little adjustment away from the factory settings to get the picture the way I wanted it, but the results were well worth the effort. If you buy one, I suggest you read thru the user's guide to set it up and learn it's features. I am very pleased.

Hands down the best value!
I bought this a Nebraska Furniture Mart 4 days ago for $2300 with warranty and tax and I have to say it blew my mind. I'm a gamer and my 360 has never look SO COOL! The colors are amazing and with the 360 hooked up on the HD setting with it's ability "up-filter" DVD's... breath taking! I downloaded Batman Begins in HD from Xbox Live and wow!
If you've got a game system do yourself a HUGE favor and jump all over this TV. It's the perfect size, not too huge and not to small. And this is coming from a guy that played halo 3 on 36 in sitting like 2-3 ft away from the screen. I can sit back on my couch and relax and still be able to play! It's just that SHARP.

very happy with purchase
After doing research on similar lcds I decided to go with the Toshiba. The main factor for me was the matte finished screen. My room is very bright during the day and this tv is terrific. I can't believe how great it looks during the day. My old 51 inch Hitachi was horrible. Picture is outstanding when watching a HD feed. I can't imagine how the picture could be further improved. SD tv varies from very good to bad depending on feed. Overall I have no complaints and amazon's delivery was great.

Best purchase we made.
My husband and I were nervous abt making a purchase for a TV on line, but after receiving the TV we knew it was one of our best purchases yet,and everytime the price went down we called and were refunded the difference!! The picture is so sharp and audio is great. Not a scratch on it. We are very happy with it. Shipping was fast except you do have to call them for delivery date and time because they don't have yr number to call you. Aside from that, shippers placed the TV on stand cleared up box and took it with them. Highly recommend this television...

My friends are sooo jealous
I've had this TV for a couple months now and love it.
I have not been able to experience full 1080p (yet) because all HD broadcasts are in 780p or 1080i. It may be a while before I get to experience to FULL potential of this TV as I am going to wait on BluRay until some new features are added (online content, etc.) and the format is more finalized/established. I did recently order the Pioneer DV-400V-K which will upscale my DVD collection to 1080p (but will only be "near hd" quality) and can't wait to see how it looks.
I love everything else about this TV. The picture was not bad out of the box but I definitely recommend using a DVD made for tuning the set... I used Avia.
I have a couple friends who invite themselves over specifically to see the TV.
I do not have a single complaint so far!

Awesome TV!!!
I did not buy my 52HL167 from Amazon, but I used the site to do research so felt compelled to leave my own review. I have had the TV for nearly 2 months. No issues to speak of. The picture quality is great, in fact I have made no adjustments to the factory settings since it looks so good and I haven't want to mess with them. The glossy black cabinet looks really nice in my new entertainment center - no extra distracting features, just a simple, classy frame and the toshiba logo; you can barely notice the speakers (which have pretty good sound - in fact unless I'm watching a movie or something with music content where it really matters to me, I am more than satisfied to use the TV speakes alone).
From my research, there are some who note motion blur. I have watched football, hockey and basketball and cannot discern any blur. The only time I see it is the white words over the black background of the scrolling update at the bottom of the screen on ESPN. Unless you are obsessed with watching the ESPN updates for more than a few minutes, this will not be an issue for you and will not take away from the joy of this TV. It's not worth spending another $500-$700 for the 120Mhz version, at least not for me.
Lastly, I originally purchased a Panasonic Plasma with the anti-glare coating. I took it back almost immediately. The Toshiba was my LCD choice from the start. I considered a Samsung but didn't think I was getting as much TV for the money at 52" and have had a CRT Toshiba for many years and never had any issues with them. As far as glare, absolutely no issues with this Toshiba and I have 5 large windows in my family room. I won't ever consider plasma again.
STOP LOOKING AROUND, BUY THIS TOSHIBA, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!

Toshiba 52HL167 LCD is a great deal!
I ordered a Toshiba 52HL167 LCD HDTV from Amazon (TigerDirect) on Sunday and was watching it Thursday night! The price was unbeatable, after much research I found that by ordering from Amazon I saved well a ton of money even with the shipping costs. Like I said, I ordered Sunday, by Monday it was shipped from Chicago, hit Buffalo on Tuesday, arrived in Boston Wednesday and was delivered to my house on Thursday (needless to say TigerDirect has excellent on-line tracking). The local frieght carrier called and we set up a time for delivery (9-12), it didn't show up until 2:00, but when I called at 12:30 they at least explained why, and gave me an accurate new delivery time. Just be prepared that the driver's job is to just get the TV off the truck (he was nice enough to wheel it into my garage), he's not there to unbox it etc, but for the savings I received, well worth it. As for the TV itself, it surpassed my expectations. Right out of the box the picture was clear and sharp. HD content was excellent both over HDMI from my Comcast DVR as well as using the internal QAM tuner via the coax cable. Also the picture quality was excellent from my DVD (not HD) player using component cables. No problems with viewing angles (which concerned me and is why I ended up not buying a rear projection set). I still have to mess around with different color/contrast settings, and haven't hooked it up to my stereo receiver yet, but overall I would say it was a much easier job to get this TV up and running then it was 2 years ago when I got my first HDTV (30inch Toshiba tube).

Toshiba HDTV
What a great TV! We had it installed on the wall in our family room and now that the HD is connected - the picture is fabulous. Really enjoying the large screen. The price through Amazon was better by over $300 than anyone else. The delivery people unpacked it, allowed me to inspect, hook it up briefly to see if it worked ok and even took all the packing material with them. I would purchase a TV again through Amazon because of the prompt, efficient, courteous service we received.

Great for the money
I was a little nervous about ordering a TV over the net but Amazon made this a wonderful experience. The TV was delivered right to our door and unpacked, up and runnig in less than 5 days from time of order.
This HDTV has an excellent picture for the price, my husband did quote that it could have a better manual that would be easier to understand in hooking up and running other equipment.
We would recommend this TV and Amazon's service to everyone.
Thank you,
Webbers Falls, Ok.

Screen defect appeared two months later
I purched this tv two months ago. Nobody scratched it. I only have one good daughter who's always very gentle and never went near the tv. But some marks appeared since last week that looked like an airplane right in the middle of the screen. Everytime when it is a light colored a picture, you can see it -- looks just like an airplane coming over from a distance. I actually don't think it is a scratch mark. I think the screen somehow did it by itself. I want to return it. But it's already more than two months. Hopefully Amazon would still let me return it, even if that means I need to pay a fee.
There are two other things I don't like about this tv.
1. The black frame. It makes the pictures appear to be darker. The silver frame tvs look much better. Wish I noticed that difference before my purchase. But Toshiba got such a good rating. I guess I was over influenced by that.
2. The picture quality - not exactly what I expected.

Seeing red with motion blur
Everything I read stated the Toshiba REGZA was a good purchase. It only took a few minutes of viewing to realize that either my set was bad or the TV was over-rated. An obvious problem with red bleeding through light colors, especially white, was impossible to remedy. I tinkered with all settings and was not able to keep the red out. If watching a show with a white wall in the background, huge areas of red pixels would flicker. Anything white had the same effect, a shirt, text, forehead..it was beyond annoying. Also, I really purchased the TV for sports. After 1 hockey game, I was ready to return the set. The players moved too quickly and the 60 Hz refresh rate would make the players lag or show ghosts or look fuzzy, even in HD. If you plan on watching sports or fast moving object, you must get a TV with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. I found this out the hard way. i recently purchased a Samsung 52" with a 120 Hz and it is like night and day.

Saved BIG bucks as compared to electronic stores!
Love the TV! We saved so much money purchasing it through Amazon. Had a little problem with the delivery person as he told me that he was not paid to unpack it so that I could inspect it for damage. I took care of that by calling the delivery company and telling them it said on the slip that he was to unpack, place the TV in a spot of my choosing and allow to me be sure that it worked! Needless to say, they sent him back to our house later that afternoon.
I have never seen BLACK so BLACK as it is on this set! Awesome. I can't drag my husband away from it!!

Great Picture, simple menus, wish SD TV was better quality
When I bought this TV, I was a bit skeptical. I've read on the AVSforums that there is a green push issue, but I haven't seen any coloration issues. the picture is crisp and the tv was super easy to set up. I've been really impressed. No regrets!
The only issue that I would bring up has nothing to do with the TV, it is more an issue with the status of the cable industry. HD television looks amazing on the TV, but standard definition always leaves something to be desired. I would however say that SD TV on the Toshiba looks better than most (compairing it to other TVs in the store and friend's TVs).
You won't be disappointed with this TV!

Love it!
Just got this TV - picked it because of its top rated reviews on its video processor and also the anti reflection of the screen. If you have some backlight this one is the best. SONY XBR is a little more reflective and Samsung is the most reflective. If you have no side or backlighting go with the Samsung because it will be the clearest and sharpest, however you will have to live with the reflection of the screen. This one does not reflect at all!!
Enjoying!

Big Screen TV
Love my new big screen LCD. Price paid was hundreds less that Best Buy and HHGregg. Shipping was free. TV was unpacked and inspected for damage before the deliveryman left.
Very, very satisfied with the transaction.

Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 52" 1080p LCD HDTV
Researched and viewed in person many brands of LCD TVs. Chose Toshiba because of: independent consumer magazine recommendation, matte screen, previous good experience with Toshiba products, price.
I have it wall-mounted, attached via HDMI to DVR/cable box. Highest resolution cable company supplies is 1080i - but still very good.
Very good picture, even on STDTV. Sound is amazing for standard TV audio. StableSound (levels volume) actually works (but it can't level modulation). No noticable clouds, fringing or motion blur.
Very pleased - would recommend and buy again.

Great TV
The TV is great. Easy to set up and the picture is fantastic. It was sent to the house pretty fast and the truckers brought it in and took it out of the box and took the empty box back with them. Very happy with this purchase.

Wow! We made a great decision!
We ordered this LCD the weekend before Christmas. It shipped Christmas eve and Eagle delivered the TV the following Wednesday. They brought the TV in, unpacked it and allowed my husband to check it over. Because it was only 12 degrees outside, they recommended not plugging it in until it warmed up. We had it up and running that evening with a fabulous picture.
We hooked it up with our Philips home theatre system and it is unbelieveably clear --even on NFL and NHL sports! We have no motion lag. Like several others, we had compared to the samsung 120Hz in stores and couldn't see a difference so we were able to get the 52" Toshiba for the price of the 47" Samsung 120Hz. Wow --Amazon has some great pricing and the delivery service is definitely top notch. You will not be dissatisfied with this purchase! ENJOY
