Customer Reviews for Hasbro Playskool Step Start Walk 'n Ride --- Hasbro

Nice value toy!

I brought this toy for my 10 month old girl, she is learning to walk on her own and takes her 3 year old brother chairs and pushes them across the floor. So I thought this toy would be perfect for her. So far she only walked behind it a few times but loves the toys on it and like to be pushed on the ride on. My three year old also loves this toy even though his legs are too long for it. I paid 20 dollars for it and it is well made for the price and the length of time a baby can use it.
Good, walker

More than being a toy its a walker,,, first days i had to teached my child to use it, after few days she began to enjoy it, also parents remember that all confince your child need it comes from you, none was bornd with all knowledge, the walker works perfect at all, no defect, its well made it
OK toy, but not the safest

We bought this toy for our 1 year old son for Christmas (he's a little behind in learning to walk, due to being born prematurely). He likes playing with the various spinning toys and the lift up compartment, but as far as a walker goes I don't feel it's all that safe. Our house is nearly entirely carpeted and the wheels barely move on the carpet. I've tried it on the bare kitchen floor, and saw minimal improvement in the rolling. It also tends to go off course very easily and runs into walls. Probably worst of all, because of it's narrow base, if it hits the slightest resistance the walker tips over, taking my son down with it. We borrowed a different walker which is a little bigger and heavier, and has a wider base, and it works so much better. It never tips, rolls very easily on the carpet, and is even more fun because it lights up and plays songs. If I were making this purchase over again, I would definitely avoid the Playskool walker and go for something with a wider base and a little more heft.
Lots of fun - but very light

We bought this for our son when he was first learning to walk. He shrieked with delight the first few times he walked behind it. Very fun toy.

The downside is that it is very light and tippy. Parents, you MUST walk along with your child and this toy until they are absolutely walking 100% on their own.

On the upside, it's inexpensive and easy to switch between walk-behind and ride-on. Small and light enough to pack in the car for weekend getaways.

Great colors, keeps interest.

My 10 month old daughter likes this toy. She got it for christmas and the colors will catch her eye from across the room and she will go for it. the rattle sounds, things to pull and pop back cracks her up.
One thing, it doesn't hold her little weight when pulling up on it, but she's getting the hang of it.

Okay, but I'm already looking for an upgrade

This is your basic walk 'n ride. It is easy for me to switch back and forth, but my four-year old can't do it. My baby likes playing with all of the little noise-making features, but most can't be accessed while walking or riding. I think this was available in a white/blue/red/yellow color scheme when I had my girls, and now I can only find it in a green/light blue/yellow/pink/purple color scheme now that I have a boy. These will work well for a long time, especially if kept inside. When my first one got sand in the wheels, they got too stiff to turn properly.
Good Product

My 10 month old likes this product very much. The toy is very colorful and there are many things for him to play with. I recommend this product!
My juds were over 2 yrs old and I had to take it away.

Thats how much fun this toy is, its a must have for kids, esp crawlers and toddlers.
Good product

I purchased this product for my nephew and my grandson for Christmas gift. I was really pleased with the looks of the product and performance of the product.
Get those kids walking!

We bought this toy when my daughter was "cruising" around furniture and only taking one or two cautious steps when we would hold our hands out to her trying to coax her along. She grabbed on to this toy and started walking with it - laughing and having a blast. This was when she was eleven months. At that point she would get upset if we tried to convert it from the push cart to the "car" mode. Now at fifteen months, she is okay with it being in the car mode and will sit on it and play with the dials. She pushes herself, mostly backwards, around the house, so once she figures out the forward motion will probably use it more like that. She also loves to put things in the hood of little car. Also if you take the wheels off, she loves to play with them just like that!
good choice

I did a lot of searching before I bought a walker for my 9 month old who was interested in walking around. But when it came down to it - we couldn't actually open the boxes at the store to physically look at them and we couldn't find the ones we had originally wanted to look at - so we took a gamble on this one. I had remembered that it got pretty good reviews so I was comfortable with buying it.

Turns out my son LOVES this walker! It is so cute. He gets the biggest grin on his face and after only a couple weeks he's a pro with his walker.

Some of the minor negatives: It is lightweight so you have to be there to hold it when they try to stand up on their own. I put ours away so he doesn't try when I'm not looking. Others have complained about the fact that it doesn't turn and you have to manually turn it for them. I do not think this is a bad thing. When they turn while learning to walk they get a little unbalanced so I have no problems turning it for him. I think that the lack of interesting things on this walker is a negative. It's a little boring. It has one roller that has a bead inside, a thing for them to turn (like a dial on an old phone), and 2 other things (not that intersting) and that's all. I do like that this does turn into a seated car for them to ride on although my now 10 month old doesn't know what to do except sit and play with the roller.

All in all I am very pleased with this walker and would recommend it to others.

Waste of money

After opening, my baby played with it only once or twice, I had to return it after a few weeks.
My son still loves it at 18 months!

I bought this walker because it was inexpensive and convertible. I wasn't expecting to get so much use out of it since my son seems to grow out of toys faster than shoes! I bought this at 10 months when he was starting to cruise and push chairs around the kitchen. It was a little too fast/uncontrollable on non-carpeted surfaces when he was an early cruiser, but he seemed to figure out his balance fairly quickly and was speeding all over the house with this walker about a month later. He is 18 months now and still loves to push this around. He enjoyed playing with the little gagets on it and hiding blocks in the little front compartment. In the ride position, he still hasn't figured out how to ride in forward direction, but he can speed like a champ backwards. It will be too small for him to ride comfortably probably in a few more months (and he is smallish in height). We take it outside, in the grass, on the driveway, you name it. It is durable and fun.
Good Toy Except

The walker is strudy, Only the problem I got is that it's quite free moving. SO it moved even before the baby can take its support to stand or with a slight push, resultiing the baby to falldown.

Dangerous on hardwood floors

As a walker, this toy too slippy for hardwood floors. Every time my 12 month pre-walker pushes it, the wheels skid on the floor - they are very light plastic and they do not even roll on our floors so most times the toy slips across the floor with my son ending up belly down on the floor. I think it would work better on carpeted floors but it's too dangerous if you have wooden floors. My son has no interest in the toy anymore, doesn't even play with the attachments on the front of it.
Loved by 2 boys

My older son had this toy when he was 9 months old (he is 6 now). When our second son was born this past year, we knew this would be a must have. Our newest loves spinning the toys and always has a big smile when he is walking. I would reccommend this toy highly!
