Customer Reviews for Fisher-Price Smart Cycle --- Fisher Price

Smart Cycle is Smart

[[ASIN:B000NWU9NI Fisher-Price Smart Cycle]]

This was a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. She is on it everyday and loves showing me her "skills" on her cycle. It is a great learning toy as well as getting those little legs moving. Optimistically, I rated the durability with 5 stars, but she has only had it a short time.

Smart Cycle broke after 4 days!

We bought this for our sons, 5 and 3, for Christmas. Four days later, it stopped working. I called Fisher Price and we troubleshooted over the phone. It still would not work. The Fisher Price rep said she was sure the trouble was in the cable attached to the steering wheel. We had to send the cycle back and had some very sad boys. I chose to get a refund and I would not recommend this toy.
Better than expected

It is a great toy, my 4 and 7 year old love it. They both play with it everyday and it has taken the place of V-smile. Turn taking isn't a problem, they each get tired after a while. I wish it was a little bigger and offered some games on the 1st grade level.
Not worth it.

We received this as a gift with three game cartridges. I thought my kids, who are very active, would love this game. Not so much. First of all, the games, which are $20 each, are using technology from the early 1990's, so the graphics are a little worse than Sega Genesis. The games are massively overpriced, in my opinion. Second, the games are fairly boring for my kids (ages 2, 3 and 6). Thirdly, although we left it hooked up to the TV for a full month, they played for it one day. I asked them recently if I could give it away, and all three children said yes.

The games are only mildly educational, and I know the point is to get kids off their bottoms and exercising, but your kids would get more exercise if you unplugged the TV and let them run amok in the house (which is pretty much what our kids do). Get them a real bike, sign them up for sports. Smart Cycle is a crutch for parents who don't want to spend the time to supervise their children outside, not an effective exercise machine for children. Oh, and I have three children and work full time, so trust me, this was very tempting and attractive to me, but it's not worth the money.

I can't believe how great this is!!!! WOW WOW WOW

My daughter is almost 4, I bought this for her last week thinking it would take awhile for her to get it and know how to work everything. I was so wrong. She picked it up in 10 minutes, loves all the choices, can do it completely on her own. Wow and thank you to the person who created this. I wish I had this for my older daughter. Don't hesitate! Best money I ever spent. Each cartridge has different games, but similar maps and choices, so it is not confusing to use all different cartridges (or keys as we call it in our house)!
I should really become a spokeswoman for this product, that is how much I love it. It has everything and you get exercise while learning! Amazing! Go get it. It's light and small to and easy to attach to a t.v.
You won't regret it.

Smart Cycle is Tons of Fun

My kids (4 1/2) and 2 got this for Christmas and it was for sure their favorite gift. We have not experienced any problems with it at all. The pedals stay on and even the battery life has been fine. We haven't had to change the batteries yet. My kids ride the cycle about an hour a day but I make sure to hound them to turn it off when they get off. It has a switch that you have to physically turn off or it will stay on without you knowing it. This is something that should be worked out as well as it would be nice to be able to plug it in, but it is still well worth purchasing in my opinion. My kids love it and it gets some of their energy out in the winter. My 2 year old has learned to count a bit better because of it and he also learned to pedal with it. He was pedaling very slowly backwards at first but after about a week he got it and he does very well with the pedaling now.
Good but needs to be able to be plugged in

We've only had this for a couple of months and my 3 yr old son likes to play it when we have batteries. The problem is that 3 yr olds like to push buttons and move switches, so he's always walking by and turning it on so when he wants to play with it, the batteries are dead. Too bad you can't plug it into the wall for power.

Number One in our book; best Christmas purchase EVER

As grandparents, we bought it for the four year old, but once assembled decided it had to be for the six year olds as well. They all positively love it. We have since purchased four of the six available additional cartridges (can't stand any more Sponge Bob, so it's unlikely we will never buy that one).

We all live within minutes of eachother, and there is at least one of the grandchildren here everyday. Of all the toys, Barbies, train set, Legos, Lincoln Logs, this is the mose popular toy in the house. And we very much enjoy how much fun the children have while they play and learn.

It is definitely the best Christmas present my husband & I ever bought ourselves.

Just plain FUN!

I purchased this item for my 4 year old for Christmas. He loves it! My 5 1/2 year old love's it, too. The games are fun and they are getting a little energy out at the same time. Great for rainy days.
Kids really like this!

My two boys, 8 1/2 year old and 4 1/2 year old, are really enjoying this toy. My 4 year old gets a little frustrated with the game that comes with it, which is the only one we have at this point. Nevertheless, it is the first thing he plays when he wakes up in the morning. The boys love to ride as fast as they can, however, I don't think the included game can keep up with how fast they do go. I do look forward to trying other games with this product.

The plug that connects from the toy to the TV is a good length, measuring approximately 4', 4". Like other reviewers, I would have preferred an AC Adapter to power the toy, but I don't anticipate having to change the batteries all that often, we'll see.

Funny, when we went to the store my boys never gravitated towards this product at all, but we actually won this and are now glad we have it for them. I would recommend the purchase of this toy, along with another game or two. Buyer beware though, you can find this product for a better price than listed here.

Just one last note... the toy says it can hold someone up to 200 pounds. My older son is tall for his age and when he rides the bike, he knees come up to his chin! Also, he can hardly steer, but, all the same, he loves the toy. I do wish it was a little more compatible for a child of his stature.

Absolutely a Great toy!!!

Purchased this for my 2 1/2 yr old son....he LOVES it! He learned how to pedal a trike last summer and I was worried he would have trouble since it has been a long time....He pedals like a pro! His 6 yr old and 8 yr old sisters love this also...wear themselves out!! He loves the Diego game.
Attention Autism Parents!

Ok first of all WOW!!!! I have a six year old son with PDD NOS and he learns really well off of electronics, as so a lot of other kids with Autism. He also has low tone, and one of the things I was worried about was would he be able to pedal it.
This toy is WONDERFUL!!!!!!! After a day he got the hang of pedaling and can even pedal the bike at therapy now!!! He has always been good with numbers, but now is even better. This toy has been a God-send for him and I am so thankful he got it for Christmas.
We also have a four year old who is a ball of energy. He loves the Smart Cycle just as much as his brother to the point where I have to set a timer to get them to take fair turns. All kids are going to want to play video games, no matter how their parents feel about them. With this, they are playing video games, but they are learning AND exercising at the same time!! What more could a parent want??
My boys got it for Christmas and are still on it every day and it is the first thing they want to do when they get up each morning. The no AC adaptor kinda sucks, but I got AC Delco D sized batteries at Big Lots and have not had to change them out once, and like I said my boys are on that thing everyday.
I simply could not be happier with this product

Great Fun

Got this as a Christmas gift for my three-year-old son. I can't keep him or my seven-year-olkd off of it! In addition to the game it comes with, he got the Hot Wheels cartridge, which of course, is a hit with a little boy! Some assembly was required, which I didn't know ahead of time, but it was pretty light. Nothing more than a phillips screw driver. Already, his recognition of alphabets has gotten a lot better!
Education, Fun, and Exercise - all in one

This is a toy that was well worth every penny. Family times are slim in today's busy world. Now since we have had the Smart Cycle, family time is back. My husband and I really cheer our 3 1/2 year old when she is on this. We are focused on her having fun as well as learning at her age. It is a wonderful teaching tool and at the same time FUN! I don't want to raise my kids to be "couch potatoes" and this has motived the whole family to get up and move. I have even sat a chair behind the cycle and paddled, played and had fun while the family was cheering me on. Want to get the "family time" back? Want a way to have fun at learning? I suggest purchasing the Smart Cycle.
Great "Fun" and "Educational" Toy!!

We bought this Smart Cycle for our 2 year old grandson and 3 year old granddaughter. They "love" this toy and spend as much time riding it as their parents allow. It's a "great" learning toy as well, which makes it an even greater value. We bought 3 "additional" videos for the Smart Cycle--the children "love" each one of them. Living in WI, they can't always be outside playing when the weather is so cold; this way they can "ride" their bike (get their exercise) at anytime, right in their living room!!! Their parents say they "never get bored", taking their turns riding on it. It's colorful and very sturdy; the seat adjusts to different heights. I "highly recommend" this Smart Cycle to all parents of young children. They won't be disappointed with their purchase.

Great exercise, absolute fun, poor replay value

Our four year old son loves his Smart Cycle. He doesn't learn anything new from it but it does reinforce his numbers, letters, and shapes. The toy sits in the middle of the living room and he will sometimes just get on it and pedal away without turning it on. He hasn't played with it roughly but it does seem very sturdy and kid resilient.
Our boy has a lot of fun on it but it is waning. The only complaint- and it is an outstanding one- is that the user has to play through the beginning of the game to get to the later stages. There is no way to save the progress made, no way to go directly to the other challenges.
The later stages could be fantastanomically full of learning and exciting gameplay and we just don't know about it. This toy is great fun but the flaw kills a lot of the replay value.

exercise as you learn

[[ASIN:B000NWU9NI Fisher-Price Smart Cycle]] THE CYCLE IS VERY EASY TO PUT TOGETHER. THE RIDER NEEDS TO FIND THE CORRECT SEAT LEVEL TO BE COMFORTABLE AND ENJOY THE RIDE. THE SOFTWARE WAS EXCELLENT AND THE RIDER HAD A GOOD TIME. THE BATTERIES WERE INCONVIENT WAS ONLY NEGATIVE.
Everything but the safety helmet!!

I bought this for my niece who isn't quite three yet, but is quite advanced in speech and problem solving. I was concerned that it might be too big for her (an average size 33 month baby). But she fits on it fine, and loves it! After her daddy set it up, she ran to her bedroom to get her bike helmet before climbing on for a spin! I don't think she quite gets the video game part, but enjoys the heck out of riding her bike.
expensive but okay

We bought this toy for our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter to use while we are on our exercise equipment. She gets frustrated with the fact that she cannot go to different levels without going through the beginning ones. We have not run out of batteries yet however, it would be very nice if the cycle were able to have an adaptor as we have not been able to find rechargeable D batteries or a recharger for them. Every recharger seem to be only for smaller batteries. We only bought the one game component that came with the game, as the other boxes said the same thing on them we could not tell if there would be a benefit for harder games or only just a change in visual surroundings.
My niece and nephew love this toy!

I bought this toy recently as a Christmas gift for my 4-year old nephew. As it turns out, his 8-year old sister is enjoying it as much as her 4-year old brother. I'm told that they play on it every day. The games are a bit easy for my 8-year old niece, but just perfect for my 4-year old nephew. One of the things that they love most about it is the enjoyment they get from pedaling along while they're playing the games. We've only had the game for a very short while, but it seems durable. This toy is one of the most novel items I've seen for a child in a very long while. Maybe next they'll figure out a way to have two children playing at once!
