Cranium's first electronic game, Hullabaloo is the most innovative, exciting kids game in decades, mixing music, sounds, and voice and getting kids thinking, laughing, and moving all around. High-energy, topsy-turvy fun combines elements of beloved classic games like hopscotch, Simon says, and musical chairs -- plus, the game's challenge and complexity increase the longer kids play. Hullabaloo has received over a dozen top industry awards including the 2003 and 2006 Toy Industry Association Toy of the Year awards. Cranium Hullabaloo includes the Hullabaloo talking audio console and 16 colorful play pads; requires 3 AA batteries (not included).

kids LOVE this
This is one of those toys that gets the kids up an moving. Fun music, fun 'rewards' = "do a silly dance". they LOVE it. I am always looking for ways to 'reach' my boy who has autism. This just helps initiate play.

Children probably need to be at least five years old
I was so excited to get this toy after reading all of the awards that it had won. We have a 4, soon to be 5, little girl and a just turned 2 girl as well. I thought that at least the 4 year old could really enjoy it with her sister just "acting" like she was playing along. These girls are both very bright, but I believe that it will take another 6 months for them to be able to really play this together. I may have to sit down with them and just reveiw all of the different shapes and colors and drawings that are on the pads that the game is centered around. I had their Dad sit down with them because I was busy cooking breakfast......I think that someone with a little more patience has to be prepared to sit down with the young ones and maybe review the items with them.......other than that, I can't wait until I get the chance to do it with them.....it seems like a lot of fun for them and my kind of toy....educational.

Fun Listening game
I got this for my 3.5 year old for Christmas and he LOVES IT!! He has a small problem with listening (dont' they all :-) So I thought this would be a good way to get him to pay attention and would give him and I something fun to do together when his baby sister was down for a nap. He likes it so much he never wants to stop playing, usually after ten rounds I'm tired out and tell him it's time to stop and put it away and that never ends well (usually crying). I love that he loves it that much. It is good moderate exercise as you are jumping, skiping, crawling, etc. back and forth to the pieces on the floor. My only complaint is that on carpet they can slide around (I think that is my son's funnest part, making them fling out behind him as he jumps to the next one!). So I think I need to attach the "rug stays" that you get for keeping rugs in place. I think if I cut them out and glue them onto the pieces they will stay in place better and not end up under the couch or on top another piece. Over all WE LOVE IT and would recommend it as an excellant family game (don't just watch the kids play, Play with them!!)

Great fun for kids
This game is great fun for my 2 boys age 3 and 6. The fact that it changes instructions all the time makes each game different. It teaches/reviews shapes, colors and item categories well. The voice on the game tells you to jump to yellow, tiptoe to a square, put your elbow on an instrument etc. Cranium has done an excellent job again!!

Educational and fun
I purchased this game for my four year old son. My nine year old and seven year old daughters play this game with him all the time. He loves it and the girls love it too. I have caught him playing it alone too. It's lots of fun.

Fun but, may be challenging for young
I got this for my son when he was 4years old. I found that he was a little too immature still to follow directions the game was giving. However I would play with him, so I could just repeat what the game said. I would not recommend this game to anyone with the intention of entertaining the kids so you can get something done, they need the adult guidence because it can be difficult to hear the speaker, and it gives commands very quickly. So the child has to be paying attention at all times...something that seems to be diffcult for a younger child to do. Overall its a great toy but, the kids will enjoy it more if they have adult guidence and supervision encouraging them along the way.

Looooove it!
This game is great! Everything good you've heard about this game is true. I have 6 children aged 6-12, they all love it! We've had this game for a year now. And everytime I bring it out; all the kids still love to play it. We played it at my daughters bday party, it was a huge hit.
Even the adults got in on it!
It not only gets kids playing together, different age levels can play at the same time and everyone has an even chance of winning. You can play it inside or out, either way it gets kids active.
Brilliant game! I hope for many more games like this.

Great toy for kids of different ages
We first bought this toy when our boys were two and four, now they're four and six and they still like playing it. It's great for just the two of them or if we have freinds over. It's a great lesson in listening to directions for little ones. Our one year old even likes to get in on the action and do the funky dances. This has become our staple birthday gift because it's always a hit.

a homeschool mom's fave
I purchased this toy almost two Christmas's ago and it has been the most used game ever in our house. My oldest is 10, my youngest 5 and everyone still plays and has a great time. I have even used it at birthday parties for an opener game with great success.
You can't go wrong with this game. As a busy working homeschool mother of four, I need some activities that have auto-pilot features and this is it. You spread out the multi colored mats, press the button on the included speaker and that is it. A friendly male voice with music tells the children what to step on, such as "hop to a red square" or "move to a something you eat". the winner is the one whoever is on the piece called at the end of the game, and they get to "do a funky dance" which all my kids crack up at. This game is great for recognizing colors, shapes and other groupings. It has made me really trust the cranium name.

Great for young kids, too!
My kids and I have so much fun playing with this game. The recommended age is 4 and up, but my 2 1/2 yr. old loves to play this game, too. We first got this game when my kids were 1 1/2 and 4. It was just about the only game my 4 yr. old and I could play with my 1 1/2 yr. old that let him do things at his ability while we could still play the game. My little one could run around, move around randomly on the pads, rearrange all the pads and "play" the game with us, and it did not take away from our enjoyment at all. Anyone with 2 or more kids knows how frustrated the older kids get when the little ones take apart, knockover games, etc. so it is so great that this game is truly great for all ages to play together. Over the past year my little one has picked up on the game and now at 2 1/2, he plays along by all the rules. Wonderful for households with a few kids! No fighting or frustration... just fun!
This game is so easy to set up and play for a few minutes for a little active play (but practicing listening at the same time). Reinforces basic shapes, oolors, picture recognition, and is wonderful for teaching listening skills and following directions. Wonderful teaching tool for kids to realize they need to be quiet to hear the instructions. They get silly while playing, but are learning they need to quiet down to hear the next instruction. It's fun for grown ups to get silly, too! We all look forward to doing our funky chicken dances!

The Best Game for Toddlers AND Up!
Hullabaloo is the BEST game around. It has so many great attributes! It's best feature is the flexibility it has. It is great for younger and older children to play at the same time! At first my sons were just interested in getting to the correct "pad". Now that they are older, they are getting to the pads by creeping, crawling, or flying depending on the directions. One can play alone or can bring many friends along. No need for isolating the boys from the girls either!
It is an awesome activity for learning attributes by shape, color and catagory ~ bye-bye flash cards! Listening skills are developed too!
It is also a game that they can play independently. A great activity for rainy days or for when dinner is being cooked. It is so easy to set up and put away that I don't mind if they play for only a few minutes.
We have taken it on trips to "get the wigglies out" in a hotel room ~ it does have a volume control. It packs easily in a ziptop bag, no little parts to lose. I even took it to a remote lobby in a hotel and we had an impromtu game with other little ones.
I love that the prize for winning is having the winner take a bow, or doing a jump or dancing. Not everything deserves a trophy! The games are so brief that everyone will have a chance to win in a short amount of time.
I have bought this game for friends and family. I HIGHLY recommend Hullabaloo!

Cranium Hullabaloo
It's not as much fun as I expected it to be for my kids (ages 4 & 5) after reading other's reviews, but they still like it and play with it every now and then. The sound could be a little louder and more time given to get to the particular mats, but it's still a good toy. I honestly don't think I would have bought it though if I was able to play with one in advance of buying. It's intensely fun for a while, but it soon fades away and it sits for weeks ignored unless I suggest playing with it.

Our four year loved this and took it to pre-school!
Hullabaloo was out of the box and ready to play in just a couple of minutes, including inserting the batteries. Our four-year old loved moving all over the room, and she made everyone who came to our house play a quick game with her. The games are just a couple of minutes long, but you can repeat it many times with different results. It made us adults laugh to stick our noses to the ground while trying to touch a green pad with our foot. Our daughter's pre-school class loved the game, too.

smelly
As soon as I opened the box I could smell the plastic from the floor mats. It really smells toxic. My 4 year old didn't understand the game and my 5 year old was bored after 5 minutes. It seems like it would be a good game for a party - I think it would be more fun if there were more children involved. I really wish it didn't smell so badly though. I can smell it across the room.

Fun and Games
I have both a pre-school and young school age kid who love this game. Pre-school kids can learn to respond to colors, shapes, and objects on the pieces you lay out on the floor. A recorded voice calls out simple instructions (like "jump to a red piece", or "wiggle to a square"). At the end, the voice names a specific floor piece and whoever is on that piece "wins". Several kids can play (and enjoy) at the same time.

Fun For the Whole Family
This is truly one of those games the whole family can get out on a Friday night and play together. My kids range from 3 to 10 and we play this on a regular basis. It gets everyone moving, keeps them listening and laughing and it's easy enough for my 3 year old to understand too (although when she was younger she'd run off with the different pads which added a new element to the game, LOL)

Great fun!
My three loved this game..the 2 1/2 year old couldn't quite grasp it but the 3 year old & 6 year old had a great time. My only beef is that it when it gives multiple directions it doesn't give the kids time to complete them before moving on to the next direction..ie. It will say...put your foot on a red triangle AND put your elbow on an instrument AND your nose on a yellow square, more time shoud be given to actually do this. The game needs a pause button. Otherwise it's great.

love it!
Great for a variety of ages (we've tried 18mos-9yrs) - adults can stand to play a few rounds too. My kids love it. My DH and I love to watch them play and act silly - it's nice to have something that entertains and keeps them moving.
I'd much rather set up the game, than put in a movie.

The best game ever for my kids
Love it! Love it! Love it! My kids ask to play this all the time. They can play by themselves. It is a move around game that teaches too. I highly recommend this. My young 3 year old played this.
